1. SMS Service Description

FirstAidTag offers SMS text messaging services to send:

Emergency Alerts

  • • Notifications when your medical ID is scanned
  • • Location information during emergency events
  • • Critical safety alerts to emergency contacts

Account Security

  • • One-time password (OTP) verification codes
  • • Login authentication messages
  • • Account security notifications

Service Updates

  • • Important service announcements
  • • Account status changes
  • • Critical system notifications

2. Consent to Receive SMS

By providing your mobile phone number and checking the SMS consent box during account creation, you:

Expressly consent to receive automated SMS messages from FirstAidTag
Agree that consent is not a condition of purchase
Acknowledge that message and data rates may apply
Understand that emergency alerts are time-sensitive and critical

Opt-In Process

  • • You must actively check the consent box during registration
  • • You will receive a confirmation SMS after opt-in
  • • You can manage SMS preferences in your account settings

3. Types of Messages You Will Receive

A. Emergency Alerts (HIGH PRIORITY)

Example Messages:

  • “ALERT: Your FirstAidTag medical ID was scanned at [location]”
  • “Emergency contact [Name] has been notified”
  • “View details in your FirstAidTag app”
Frequency: As needed when scannedCannot Opt-Out: Critical safety alerts

B. One-Time Passwords (OTP)

Example Message:

“Your FirstAidTag verification code: 123456. Valid for 10 minutes.”

Frequency: When you log in or reset passwordCannot Opt-Out: Required for security

C. Service Notifications

Example Messages:

  • “Your FirstAidTag subscription expires in 7 days”
  • “New emergency contact added to your account”
Frequency: Occasional, as neededCan Opt-Out: Reply STOP

4. Message Frequency

Emergency Alerts

Variable. Could be zero per month or multiple per day depending on use.

OTP Messages

Typically 1-5 per month when you log in or need authentication.

Service Messages

Infrequent. Typically 0-2 per month unless activity requires notification.

You will never receive marketing or promotional SMS from FirstAidTag.

5. Message & Data Rates

Carrier Charges

  • • Standard SMS rates apply from your mobile carrier
  • • FirstAidTag does not charge for SMS messages
  • • Check with your carrier for your plan's SMS rates

Data Usage

  • • SMS does not use mobile data
  • • Viewing links in messages may use data

6. Supported Carriers

FirstAidTag SMS works with all major US and Canadian carriers including:

Note: Some carriers may filter or delay messages. We cannot guarantee delivery on all carriers.

7. How to Opt-Out

STOP Non-Emergency Messages

Reply STOP to any SMS message

“FirstAidTag alerts stopped. You will not receive emergency notifications. Text START to reactivate or visit firstaidtag.com/support”

START to Opt Back In

Reply START to reactivate

“FirstAidTag alerts activated! You'll receive emergency medical notifications. Msg rates apply. HELP for info, STOP to opt-out.”

WARNING:

Opting out will stop emergency scan alerts. You may not be notified when your medical ID is accessed.

Alternative Opt-Out Method

  • 1. Log into your FirstAidTag app
  • 2. Go to Settings → Notifications → SMS
  • 3. Toggle off “Receive SMS notifications”

8. How to Get Help

For SMS Support

Help Auto-Response

“FirstAidTag sends emergency alerts when your medical ID is scanned. For medical emergencies call 911 immediately. Do not rely solely on SMS alerts. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt-out.”

9. SMS Delivery Limitations

You acknowledge and agree that SMS is not 100% reliable:

Messages may fail due to:

  • • Network congestion
  • • Carrier filtering or blocking
  • • Phone turned off or no signal
  • • Phone number changed or disconnected
  • • Technical failures
  • • Natural disasters

FirstAidTag is NOT responsible for:

  • • Failed or delayed SMS delivery
  • • Messages filtered by your carrier
  • • Consequences of not receiving alerts
  • • Carrier charges or billing issues

DO NOT RELY SOLELY ON SMS FOR EMERGENCIES. ALWAYS CALL 911 FOR IMMEDIATE HELP.

10. Privacy and Data Use

Phone Number Use

  • • Used only to send FirstAidTag service messages
  • • Never sold or shared with marketers
  • • Stored securely in compliance with privacy laws

Message Content

  • • Emergency alerts include your location (if available)
  • • Messages do NOT include detailed medical information
  • • Full details available in the mobile app

11. International Use

12. Changes to SMS Service

We may modify this SMS service at any time:

  • Add or remove message types
  • Change message frequency
  • Update message content
  • Discontinue service (with 30 days notice)

Material changes will be communicated via email, in-app notification, or SMS notification.

Prior Express Consent: By opting in, you provide prior express written consent as required by law.

14. Emergency Disclaimer

CRITICAL: FirstAidTag SMS is NOT an emergency response service.

What we DO:

  • • Send notifications when your bracelet is scanned
  • • Share your location with emergency contacts
  • • Deliver alerts as quickly as technology allows

What we DO NOT do:

  • • Monitor your health or safety 24/7
  • • Dispatch emergency services
  • • Replace 911 or emergency medical services
  • • Guarantee message delivery

If you are experiencing a medical emergency:

  2. 2. Do not wait for SMS notifications
  3. 3. Do not assume emergency contacts received alerts
  4. 4. Seek immediate professional medical help

15. Liability Limitation

FirstAidTag is not liable for:

SMS delivery failures or delays
Consequences of not receiving alerts
Actions taken based on SMS information
Carrier filtering or blocking
Any damages arising from SMS service use or failure
